Review: Revlon ColorStay Liquid Eye Pen

I have a confession to make… I’ve been cheating on my MAC fluidline! In a past post, I mentioned that MAC Fluidline was my favorite eyeliner until I encountered the Revlon ColorStay Liquid Eye Pen.

This eyeliner is unlike any other! It retails for $6.56 at you local drugstore and is available in three colors; blackest black, black and blackened brown.

This eyeliner claims:

-Felt tip controlled application
-Smudge-proof lasting color that wears up to 16 hours
-Easier to apply than traditional liquid eyeliners

Why I like it:

– ALL of the claims are TRUE!

– The felt tip is incredible with precision

– The lasting power is pretty good too! It will definitely last an entire work way.

– It is most definitely easier to apply than traditional liquid eyeliners. The felt tip applicator allows for great control of the product and the line.

– The color is a true black that does not require three coats

– Matte finish!

– Slick pencil like packaging

– Great price

What I don’t like:

– I wish it existed in other colors!

– My cousin has tried this product before and mentioned that the product was not as vibrantly black in the beginning. However, she stored it upside down for over 24hrs to allow the product to go down.

All in all, this is a great product that is definitely worth spending under $7. The color, longevity and ability to create a precise line is incredible!

Let me know what you guys think of this product if you have tried it or plan on trying it.

Orlando Haul

This weekend I had the chance to go to Orlando to visit my boyfriend. Of course I did some shopping! If you follow me on twitter, you saw some of the stuff I got. I will go into more detail and show you all the other items I purchased 🙂

Light Pink Belted Boyfriend Pants

$19.80

Essential White Vneck

$4.80

Charlotte Russe Accessories

All their accessories are on sale for $5 so I took advantage and got this amazing bracelet and cute pair of hear earrings.

Victoria’s Secret Bikini Bottom

Got these bikini bottoms for $2.99 at the Victoria’s Secret Outlet in a Peach color! What a steal!

Forever 21 Maxi Dress

Got this maxi dress for $14.50 and it’s very comfortable!

Forever 21 Chain Link Necklace

I’ve been wanting a necklace like this for a while but they are always so pricey! Found this one at Forever 21 for $10.80 and was so excited!

MAC Mocha

I got this lipstick from the CCO at the outlet and loved the color! It was also a good deal, $11! It was hard being in a CCO because I wanted to buy anything!

Ross

I finally went to Ross after a few months! I’m always upset because there is no Ross in NYC and I love that store so much! I got this really cute purse for $9.99 and TWO false lashes for $1.99! I love that store!

Ulta

Ulta happened to be right next to Ross so I made a little visit! NYX items were buy one, get one 50% off so I picked up these two lip colors! NYX Color in Tack and NYX Round lipstick in Eucalyptus. Lastly I got an EOS Lip Balm in Strawberry Sorbet.

H&M

Last stop of my shopping extravaganza was H&M where I found this beautiful bag ($17.95) and this phone cover ($5)!

The bag has a thin gold chain so it also becomes a cross body!

This picture doesn’t give the color justice because it’s a beautiful neon color!

That’s all for my haul! Hope you all enjoyed it!

April Favorites!

Happy May everyone! Flowers are blooming, the sun is out and it’s time to share my favorite items for the past month of April!

Some of these have been my favorites for a while now but since this is my first time doing this, I’ll share them 🙂

Garnier Smoothing Milk

I’ve been using this product for quite a while and I love it! I use it whether I’m going to straighten or curl my hair. It leaves the hair with a nice shine but not oily. It also smells great! The bottle bring a lot of product so they usually last me a while.

Urban Decay Primer Potion in Eden

Thanks to my wonderful cousin, I was able to try this primer and I realized that everyone has always been right about the amazing quality of all these Primer Potions. I am very impressed by the amount of lasting ability it lets my eyeshadow have. I also really like the matte formula because it dries quickly and creates a great base for the eye shadow I apply.

MAC Russian Red

For a while I had been using the NYX Lip Creams and had forgotten about my precious MAC lipsticks until I decided to dust off my Russian Red and fell in love with it all over again. I can’t say enough good things about this lipstick because you guys already know that it’s one of my favorites! It’s great for a lot of skin tones and it looks great! If you’re looking for a great red color, give this one a try!

ELF Studio Brush and Bronzer Duo

This blush and bronzer duo is great! Especially for $3, you can’t beat it. The pigmentation is great and I’ve heard a lot of people say that it is a dupe for Nars! It does have shimmer so be careful with it! I contour with a matte blush and then apply this duo on top.

Wet & Wild Ultimate Brow Kit

Now I don’t tend to fill in my eyebrows very often but sometimes I feel like I have a few spots that need help or sometimes I cut a little too much hair and have gaps! I use the middle color and it works just fine! I stay away from the dark color since my hair is a little lighter. The gel is ok, not my favorite but for traveling, it works.

That’s all for my April favorites! Hope you all enjoyed it 🙂

What’s in my travel makeup bag!

This weekend I’m in Orlando to see my boyfriend and as I was packing I thought about being really good with the amount of makeup I took! On this particular trip, I was only taking a carry on just because I didn’t want to trot around with a huge bag for just one weekend. I went light on my makeup bag with which is pretty impressive and I’m pretty happy with myself! I also knew that I would go shopping so downsizing the amount of clothes wasn’t that hard.

In this post, I will share with you all what I take in my makeup bag for one weekend.

Is this a good list or should I have taken less? Tell me about how you all travel!

Concealer!

Good Morning everyone and Happy Monday!

I got a request from MommyHoodtoTheHeart to highlight some concealers that have been good to me and I have 2 that I have been using that I feel confident enough to share and recommend with you all!

Cover Girl Simply Ageless Concealer

This has been the concealer that I have been using for months and I have been thoroughly impressed by it. I got it for a littler over $12 so it was a pretty pricey but the pot it comes in has a lot of product and it has lasted me quite a while. I use my finger and pat it lightly under my eyes and it works really great. I always make sure to put the powder I use that day to set it, therefore it will last much longer throughout the day. It also works great with any blemishes that need coverage. My favorite part about this concealer is the way it blends so gracefully!

Revlon Photo Ready Concealer

This has been my newest concealer purchase as I mentioned in my first ever blog post! I got this in a darker shade for the summer since I will probably get a little bit of color. I have not used this concealer as long as the Cover Girl but so far, so good. This is a thicker consistency than the Cover Girl concealer but still blends very well and offers pretty full coverage. I really like that it’s in a stick instead of a pot because the application is a little easier. I also got this on a really good deal, so always look out for a deal since it runs for almost $13 at some places.

All in all, both concealers are great! It depends on your preference. Do you prefer a stick or a pot container? As I mentioned, watch out for deals since they can both run more than $10 at some stores. The name of the concealers have links to pretty good deals so check those out!

Here is a picture of me with no makeup and one with each of the concealers on!

Although I have these two, there are still a few concealers I have been wanting to try!

Benefit Erase Paste

MAC Studio Finish Concealer

Sonia Kashuk Concealer Palette

Maybelline Instant Age Rewind

Hope this was helpful! What are you favorite concealers!?

Favorite Eye Liner!

Way back in the day I used the retractable liners for my upper lid until I discovered the MAC Fluidline in Blacktrack and have never looked back since then! Before discovering gel liner, I thought that pencils were the way to go. I always thought they were convenient since you didn’t need an extra brush and everything was there in a small skinny pencil!

MAC Fluidline are sold where ever they is a MAC counter like at Macy’s, Nordstrom, etc. They retail for $14.50 and it is the best $14.50 I ever spend. I don’t usually buy high-end makeup just because I always try to find an inexpensive version.

I’m on my second pot of liner in about 2 and a half years (my current one is getting a little low). I have tried the ELF liner and have tried using liquid liners but nothing seems to give me the look and effect that the MAC Fluidline does.

Why I LOVE it:

Lasting Power (I can put this on one night and still have it the next day, intact)

Pigmentation (true black)

Smooth texture

Easy to apply

Product lasts a LONG time (I can usually have one pot last me more than one year *I don’t use it everyday though*)

MAC has a few more colors in fluidline but I’m a true black track girl!

I have a nice dent in mine since I use it so often!

As mentioned in my Night Out Makeup Look post, this is the brush I use to apply the gel liner. You can buy it at Target for only $2.49!

Hope you all enjoyed this post about my favorite eye liner! If you have a different favorite that you think I can try, please let me know!

Not beauty related but I found these adorable thank you cards at Target for only $1 in the entrance! They had a bunch of different designs! 🙂
